Peel Library Toolbar (Peel LibX )

Sorry  - This page is still under construction

The Library Toolbar is a small piece of software that you download and install in your web browser. It was designed for Firefox and works best with this, but a version with fewer functions can be installed with Internet Explorer.

Features that can make your life easier include:

  • taking the library with you when you browse the web.
  • when on sites like Google Scholar or Amazon, you can click on a book or journal article, and instantly see whether it is in our library.

How do I get the Peel Library Toolbar ?

Firefox versions 1.5 – 2.x or Firefox 3.x

Download the latest version of LibX Peel Library toolbar. When the file is downloaded, click on it and follow the instructions.

If Firefox displays a message "To protect your computer, Firefox prevented this site...from installing software on your computer", press the button labeled "Edit Options..." and click "Allow" to add the LibX download site to the list of website from which add-ons may be installed. Then click "Ok" and visit the "Install" link again.

To uninstall The Murdoch University Library Toolbar, go to the main Firefox menu and select "Tools," then select "Add-ons," and use the "Uninstall" button. You will have to restart Firefox to complete the uninstall.

The current version of Firefox can be downloaded here.

Internet Explorer:

The Library Toolbar for Internet Explorer is a Beta version. If you choose to install it, be aware that some functions (eg. embedded cues, drag and drop text to Google Scholar) do not work well, and that it may cause problems with your browser.

Browser Requirement: Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. Works best with Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher.

Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 or higher is required for the Toolbar IE installation process. It can be downloaded here, Download .Net

To install the Toolbar, you must have Internet Explorer open. Click on the download link at the top of this page, then click on the Internet Explorer version. A wizard will guide you through installation.

The Library Toolbar is an Internet Explorer add-on, or ActiveX control. Install the Toolbar only if you are comfortable installing ActiveX controls. You might not be able to install the Toolbar if your system administrator has disabled your ability to install ActiveX controls, if you do not have administrative privileges, or if you are using a standard user account.

If Internet Explorer attempts to temporarily block your installation of the Toolbar, click the Information bar and follow the prompts to continue. Once the "File Download - Security Warning" dialog box appears, click Open or Run to begin installing the Toolbar.

To uninstall the Toolbar, use the Windows Control Panel and follow the same steps you would take to uninstall a Windows program. Look for "LibX for IE" in your list of installed programs.
